Hotmelt Adhesive / Hotmelt Adhesive

Hot melt adhesives are 100% systems, due to which no solvent needs to be used to apply the adhesive. The adhesive resin is melted and solidifies when applied to the film. By post-crosslinking, it is also possible to achieve high-temperature resistant settings. The tape is self-adhesive at room temperature similar to a rubber or acrylic adhesive.

Hotmelt adhesives – the advantages

Hotmelt adhesives are solvent-free, but their use is limited to temperature-resistant materials because of the high processing temperatures. On the other hand, the adhesive behaves reversibly, i.e. it becomes soft again when the temperature is increased. Due to this property, it has limited heat resistance (see also reactive hotmelt adhesives).
