Description
CHR SGK5-05 is made of high-strength para-aramid (phenylene terephthalamide) fabric impregnated with a dispersion of antistatic PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). A silicone adhesive resistant to very high temperatures is then applied to one side of the high-performance coated fabric. The black pigmentation provides antistatic properties and protection against harmful UV rays, to which para-aramid fiber fabric is susceptible. The resistivity of this version is less than 106 ohms/square.
Functions / Benefits
Para-aramid fiber fabric coated with an anti-static PTFE material provides strength, flexibility, slip, chemical resistance and UV stabilization in applications with severe conditions where abrasion protection typically wears out conventional fiberglass harness wraps quickly. The low coefficient of friction of PTFE is another plus point when wrapping cable strands, as it provides “glide”. To this end, PTFE increases the temperature resistance of uncoated para-aramid (phenylene terephthalamide) fabric.
Application areas
CHR SGK5-05 is a special abrasion resistant material used in high temperature cable wrapping where the chemical resistance and low friction release of conventional fiberglass fabric is not sufficient.
