Epoxy resin adhesives
Epoxy resin adhesives, also called epoxy adhesives, have two components: resin and hardener. Polymer building blocks are used as epoxy resin, at the end of which there are so-called epoxy groups. In most cases, reaction products of bisphenol-A and epichlorohydrin are used, which form a stable thermoset after mixing with the hardener (contains amino or mercapto groups).
Epoxy resin adhesives – the advantages
The curing reaction is suitable both at room temperature and at higher temperatures. If the latter is the case, higher bond strengths are usually generated. Due to the high strength of cured epoxy resin adhesives, it is often used for structural bonding, such as in vehicle or aircraft construction.
